Joel Stephen, LCSW
My career has centered on helping people through difficult, often life-changing circumstances. Before becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I served nearly 20 years as an FBI Special Agent. My background also includes work as a firefighter and EMT. These experiences gave me a firsthand understanding of the responsibility, uncertainty, and cumulative stress that can come with serving others, and how difficult it can be to ask for support when you are accustomed to being the person who provides it.
My work in mental health response has brought me alongside individuals and families facing crisis, trauma, grief, and significant instability. Through collaboration with law enforcement, emergency responders, healthcare professionals, and community partners, I have seen how much it matters to meet people with patience, respect, and practical help.
I also serve as Director of Homeless Outreach Prevention & Engagement (HOPE) at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. In this role, I lead efforts to connect people experiencing homelessness and behavioral health challenges with housing support, treatment, and community resources. This work reinforces my belief that meaningful progress begins with understanding the whole person, including the circumstances affecting their wellbeing.
At Bee Positive Wellness & Therapy Services, I bring these experiences into a calm, collaborative approach to psychotherapy. I work with adults across Texas navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, burnout, and major life transitions. I especially support first responders, healthcare workers, and other helping professionals, and I welcome adults from all backgrounds.
My goal is to offer a space where you can speak openly, make sense of what you are experiencing, and develop practical ways to move forward. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can start where you are.
